Home Counsel — New York · New Mexico · Texas
Architecture, design, psychology & technology working together to help clients understand how they want to live, and then bringing it to life — beautifully.
On the name
Gudrun is founder Lisa Gannett's middle name — and her Danish grandmother's name. A woman who simply embodied the feeling of home — kind, layered, and welcoming in a way that was uniquely hers. That inheritance is the foundation of this practice.
A New Category
The practice of designing how you live — not just where. For 21 years inside McKinsey & Co., Lisa built and stewarded the technology and programs that enabled one of the world's most demanding organizations. Then she stepped away to build something entirely her own. That decision is the foundation of everything Gudrun & Co. stands for.
Experiences
The Home Mapping Experience is at the core of how Gudrun & Co. delivers against each of the following personalized engagements.
· Foundation of the Gudrun & Co. model
Before a single box is packed, we build a millimeter-accurate digital portrait of your new residence and map your entire furniture collection within it — solving every spatial puzzle weeks before move-in day. It is what makes the work possible, and what makes the transition feel like a homecoming rather than a move.
For clients who need an independent, life-centered perspective on a space — whether that's a single session for an honest look at the home you're already living in, or an ongoing advisory relationship alongside your architect. Spatial possibility, friction analysis, and behavioral psychology applied to how you actually live.
→ 02Before you make an offer, we explore together what's actually possible in that space. A property walk and a life vision conversation — for a primary residence, grounded in how your family actually lives. For an investment property, in the eyes of the person who will eventually call it home. You move forward with clarity on what's achievable — before you commit.
→ 03For clients leaving a legacy home — and the families helping them do it. The hardest questions come first: what comes with you, what goes to the people you love, what gets released. Once those are answered, everything else follows. Guided conversations, a room-by-room edit, a vision for the new space, and white-glove transition management.
→A thoughtful beginning to your next chapter — move with the confidence that every piece is in its place, and every room already feels like yours.
The Assessment
Your Life, First
A deep conversation about how you live, how you want to live, and what your space needs to hold — your rhythms, your belongings, your daily life.
The Portrait
Your Space, Precisely
A millimeter-accurate digital portrait of your new residence — every room measured, every dimension recorded, every layout possibility made visible.
The Mapping
Every Puzzle, Solved
Your entire furniture collection placed virtually. Every layout tested. Every spatial challenge resolved — weeks before a single box is packed.
The Arrival
A Rehearsed Homecoming
You step through the door and it already feels like yours. Not a house you're moving into — a home you're returning to.
You don't just move into a house. You step into a home that is already yours.
Begin the ExperienceWhy This. Why Now.
This practice wasn't designed in a conference room. It was built move by move, room by room, over seven relocations in the first fifteen years of raising a family — all while working full-time, all while wishing there was an easier way.
Where it began.
Raising twins in beautiful pre-war Brooklyn, in a space many in modern suburbia would never imagine could work. Designing a nursery — to sleep, nurse, change, and play — in a room measuring 10×10. Lisa pioneered what became the Home Mapping Experience the way most things worth doing begin: out of necessity, on graph paper, cutting out furniture-sized pieces of paper and testing every layout and flow by hand until the space gave back everything it was asked to hold.
Where it deepened.
Finally leaving Brooklyn meant taking on a 1927 Tudor gut renovation in a historic district in Westchester County, NY — where every part of the home was touched. The front door that greets you. The kitchen that feeds you. The new space for growing boys to share and play. Navigating a full renovation while working and raising a family taught Lisa what clients actually need: not just a vision, but someone who can hold the whole picture without losing the thread of how the family inside it actually lives.
Where it became a calling.
And then helping her in-laws navigate a downsizing from homes in Dallas and Santa Fe into a single independent living condominium — a transition that is delicate and special and hard in ways no checklist can prepare you for. What comes with you. What goes to family. What gets released. That experience made clear that each of these moments — the first home, the renovation, the letting go — deserves the same quality of presence and care. Every service Gudrun & Co. offers connects to a real chapter lived.
"It was born out of the need to solve a problem. Again. And again. All while working full-time and raising a family. This is the chapter I've been writing all along."

The Practice
Moving into a new chapter of life is more than a change of address — it is a shift in the rhythm of your days.
Because your home is where your story unfolds, this work requires a deep understanding of how you truly want to live.
I am here to help you navigate your next chapter. My role is to listen to your goals and ensure every decision we make honors the life you've built while making space for what's ahead.
You shouldn't have to guess what is possible. I provide the clear, expert perspective you need to see your home's potential — whether you are reimagining a new space or thoughtfully rethinking your current one.
A home should feel like an evolution, not a reset. I help you blend your most cherished belongings with the flow of your daily life, creating a space that feels entirely, comfortably yours.
The Spatial Friction Audit
This intake is the first step. It takes approximately ten minutes and there are no wrong answers — only honest ones.

“I believe every project deserves a high level of care. Our first conversation is a chance for us both to decide if the timing and the partnership feel right for the life you’re building.”
